Background Checks and Updates
Let’s get the 800 pound polar bear out of the way (an no, I’m not referring to myself). Question 1, the so-called “universal background checks initiative” passed here in Nevada. It’s the law and there’s no remedy immediately. Deal with it. If you want to sell or loan a firearm to another private citizen in Nevada, the recipient must submit to a background check at a licensed dealer (and when loaned, the owner would have to submit to get their gun back too!). The are exceptions for family members and temporary transfers at “established” gun ranges, whatever that means, but generally private firearm transfers are banned in Nevada.
The ballot initiative is vague, poorly written and generally unenforceable but it’s the law. If you want more information, check out the full explanation of the new Unconstitutional law over at NevadaCarry.org (http://www.nevadacarry.org/universal-background-checks.html). Excuse the French but this law is a big shit sandwich and we all have to take a bite. For those of you that voted for this because it sounded like a good idea or thought that it wouldn’t affect you, you blew it. Thanks for nothing. Welcome to California Lite.
Okay, lets leave that there before I begin ranting. The update I promised in the title is that after months of promises, we are vlogging. We began daily vlogging at the beginning of October and have since abandoned daily vlogging. That’s hard work. My father’s medical issues are also ongoing, though he’s home and getting better, and we’ve sold our house too. So we’re busy as all get out for the next few weeks. Daily vlogging is a grind anyway so we are heading a different direction but for now, we wouldn’t’ have time anyway.
Hence, we are vlogging sporadically until probably early December. After that, we’ll likely go to a 3 day a week schedule for uploading videos and generally, at least one of those days will include some kind of travel/adventure/outdoor related vlog. We’ve already got a miniature collection of videos readers of this blog will enjoy. Others, maybe not so much but what do I know? Anyway, expect more Jeep adventures, fishing, hiking, etc. in the future and posts here to highlight and enhance those videos. If you’re more into general travel, we have another blog dedicated to those videos. Since we are so busy, there’s no content there yet but soon danjennevada.com will come to life.
In any case, some of our videos are attached to this post. Click on them to watch head over to our YouTube channel to watch them there. And if you don’t want to miss future videos, go a head and subscribe. We’d appreciate it. Thanks for your patience and look for Fly Fish Nevada to rise from the ashes very soon.
Enjoy a sample of our travel related videos too!
